Hi! I'm a computer programmer who's getting really tired of using his netbook for everything. I want a desktop computer that I can use for programming (Java, C++), but also for watching movies in HD and maybe ocasionally playing some videogames, but gaming is last in my list. Also, I need to be able to develop OpenGL applications. My budget is around $500-$600, and after a couple of days reading forums and reviews I've come up with this build:
Processor: AMD A8-3850 Llano 2.9GHz Socket FM1 100W Quad-Core (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103942)
Motherboard: ECS A75F-A FM1 AMD A75 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813135293)
Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314)
HD: WD Caviar Blue WD5000AAKS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136073)
PS: CORSAIR Builder Series CX430 V2 430W ATX12V (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139026)
Reader: LG CD/DVD Burner Black SATA Model GH22NS70 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136238)
Wi-fi adapter: TP-LINK TL-WN851N PCI Wireless Adapter (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833704040)
Case: SIGMA ZEN ZEN-WAR ATX Mid Tower (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811226023)
Monitor: Gateway FHX2152Lbd Black 21.5" Full HD (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824113023)
The total is $583, which is acceptable for me. I like pretty much everything in the build, the processor + memory + integrated graphic card (that supports OpenGL 4.1) will do the job for me but also the motherboard will allow for potential upgrades, which I probably will do when I have more money.
So what I'd need now is somebody more experienced than me taking a look at everything and confirming that it looks alright and no compatibility issues. Hope y'all can give me a hand with this.
Thanks!
