the case i picked was the CoolerMaster HAF 912 Mid-Tower Gaming Case and i'm looking to get some extra fans are these all i will need?

Top: 120 mm fan x 2 or 200mm fan x 1
Side:120/140 mm fan x 1

If i go with a liquid cooling system will the radiator take up the top fan vent?

I have the same case. Liquid cooling will not fit in the inside anywhere. radiator has to be either on the top or in the front with mesh removed.
I have a fan setup of 1 side, 1 front, 1 back, and 2 top. If you want good airflow you have to remove the removable hdd cage in the front but the bottom unremovable cage will still restrict airflow. So its only usefull to use only one of the 2 front fan slots. I had one on the side to help the graphics card but it makes no temp difference and just adds to the noise. So all you need is 1 front, and 2 top and maybe 1 rear. You should get rid of the included fans because they're too weak and buy some good ones.

You'll have to take off the front mesh via screws. Once you do, you can stick anything in the front. Tubing is very annoying that way though. I gave up on watercooling on the haf 912. Easier to do it on top of the case on the outside but for me there wasn't enough space between the case and the cabinet it was in. haf 912 is not a good case for wc imo. Do you have sandy bridge? If you do, don't bother with water cooling. Watercooling with haf 912 was hell for me. So much time and money wasted. If you really want wc get a new case.
