so what i will do doing is playing League of Legends, some random little games here and there, college work, WATCHING youtube videos and watching streams.
While ill be playing LoL ill have skype up and maybe music.

I dont know what way to go intel or amd but I have the 2 builds made out and I bought the Gpu already and the Case.

Help and some examples of why the intel would beat the 8 core amd or what ever way it is.

Here are the builds

INTEL I5

AMD FX 8350

I'd go with the i5 but swap the motherboard to an Asrock H97 Pro4 (or Pro4m). The extra few bucks for the EVGA 500B is worth it in terms of build quality. LOL will definitely run better on the i5 as it prefers a few very fast cores over multiple slower ones.
If your going to get the i5 Build since it's not a K CPU you can save a little bit by getting a H97 instead of a Z97 mother board, can't see anything particularly wrong, you could get a better GPU with either build but LOL doesn't really need much so up to you.

So what would the H97 not be able to do that the Z97 can? and should i worry about SLI incase i want to get 2 Gpu's?

I bought the 660 because it was on sale for 149 plus a $30 rebate.... really could not say no i thought i was a good deal at that price but then today i saw the r9 270x...... $130 o well.....

So would the Intel be good for watching youtube or what does that even do to the cpu when you watch streams or videos?

H97 doesn't allow overclocking and also doesn't support multiple gpus. since you already bought the 660 (which should be more than enough for what you need right now) i would say either go with the cheaper H97 and just buy a better gpu when the time comes for you to upgrade, or go with the Z97 and a pentium g3258 with a good overclock (should get 4.4Ghz with no problem) which will also be more than enough for what you need.

So for what I am doing i Should just stick with intel? i really dont want to even OC just seems more then i need it to do.
What Mobo should i go with?
Is the 660 really bad or something ?

no i wouldn't say it's bad, just a little dated will probably have trouble with some more recent games. LoL is pretty dated too tho, so it should be more than enough. i say, yes, go with intel. even an i3 could compete with the 8320 for what you're using it for (not very demanding game and light multitasking). since you wont be overclocking, no point in getting z97 or an amd chip. this is what i suggest

the extra money saved could either go in your pocket, or towards an ssd for increase performance. also, there is a cheaper version of the hard drive you selected.

He could even do without the SSD if he's really strapped on cash, especially since all he'll be loading is league and a couple of college projects. No need for an SSD right now.

Would it be slower if i got the i5? or no? stupid question but why is the i3 3.7ghz? I wont get the ssd no need for me.

Are you comparing the i3 to the 3.3Ghz i5? The i5 is a more powerful CPU, so it does more work per cycle. It's also quad-core not dual-core, so it can have a lower clock speed to save power, while still being a faster CPU than the i3. Not a stupid question at all. :)

SO the i5 would be better for gaming? or would the i3? would the ghz matter when you are watching youtube videos?

The i5 Will be better for games, it is a stronger over all CPU then the i3, you may not see a big difference between the two just gaming on that 660, but once you start opening other programs, having music going and youtube and a VoIP the i5 will easily out shine the i3. Also if you decide to upgrade the GPU later the i5 has much more room to run faster. The top non K i5 and the GTX970 is a great match up atm.

I find it better to get overkill for a basic game, the second they see a AAA game that really appeals to them it's going to run like crap and they'll need to upgrade. Guess that is just my thinking then.
But yes if your only ever going to play LOL the i3 is a find choice and much cheaper.
Also the Pentium G3258 is not a good idea unless your confident with over clocking. And he would then need a Z board.

Agreed so that I5 will do the job i want? now just need look at that mobo! thanks guys! more posts on other MOBO would be cool!

Yes the i5 would be better overall but as stated would be overkill for such light tasks. The i3 would easily take all that without a sweat. The way it works: i3 is dual core with hyper threading meaning that each core can juggle two tasks simultaneously, the i5 is four actual cores meaning that each thread has it own core. That's where the core speed (GHz) is relevant. The 3.8 on the i3 is actually shared between two threads where the 3.3 on the i5 is for each thread. YouTube skype music all take very little cpu power and any haswell could probably juggle all those on a single core (in theory). I would recommend the pentium g3258 but that's only if you wanted to overclock. The i3 is definitely not under powered nor over powered for your uses and I think it would suite you perfectly. Of course, if you're not sure and would rather be prepared for the future at the cost of ~$60 by all means get an i5

I also plan on playing dota, smite, world of tanks, war thunder, also id prob start downloading some steam games sense its so much better then console. thats why i want to go with the i5

right, well nothing wrong with being prepared and getting more than you need. "better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it." but the gpu will probably be the limiting factor before the cpu. that kind of puts you in a weird place: do you just go with H97 chipset and buy a new gpu altogether when needed, or spend a bit more now on the Z97 and save money by buying a second 660 for sli in the future.

Depends on how soon you would want a second one, 660 is getting older now and you might then have to resort to getting a second hand one if you leave it too long. Also he's going to need a bigger then 500w PSU if he is going to go with a pair of 660s.

I personally will not get second hand GPU, I just wouldn't.

i agree. better to save the money now and decide in the future how to spend your upgrade:

Okay just picking out a mobo one with Crossfire support incase i want to go over to the r9 270x
its on a great sale atm but ill just wait on that. not hurry. im just gonna get a h97 mobo no need to OC or 2 gpus...... im not going all out.

Should I return the 660 when it gets here or will newegg not do that? .... i feel as if its going to be a bottleneck or the problem.

How does newegg returns really work even?

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR ALL THE HELP! im brand new, this is my first build so im just hoping everything works out.

What MOBO would you think i should get?i honestly cant tell what one to get
would the ASRock
H97 PRO4 be the best pick or what? im guessing i need a ATX mobo no a MICRO.

You don't need a motherboard that supports crossfire if you only plan to have a single GPU (and I strongly advise against SLI/Crossfire for a novice)

If you don't mind returning the 660 it may be the best thing. Get a single more powerful card. I'd suggest an r9 280 as there are some that are cheaper than the 270x and that is a fantastic deal.

With an r9 280 the 500B PSU will be OK but will be pushed a little. It would be better to swap it for an XFX 550w or EVGA 600B

How would i return it? and what about the MOBO? i just want something that will last me a bit.
