First time posting here, have been reading through gathering information for my first build. I'll be using the PC for gaming and audio production (pro tools). I know in an ideal world I'd have 2 systems, but this is the best I can do.

Should I go for a 1080p monitor or would it be wasteful not to get 1440p? I was hoping for a 27 inch, without breaking the bank and I've heard that it's not best to go 1080p on a 27 inch. If it is to be 1440p, will the gtx 1070ti cut it? Or should I try skimp elsewhere and upgrade to the 1080.
Any input on monitor/resolution/refresh rate?
My original thoughts was 1080p 144Hz.
