[SOLVED] First Build: Will it work?

Looks pretty good, though you might want to consider the 1660 Super over the 1660 ti, they're almost the same performance but Super is much cheaper. Alternatively, you could ditch the cpu cooler and get a RX 5700 instead, that would give you significantly more performance.

Looks very good though I agree with Finstar that the GTX 1660 Super would be better as it is near enough the TI to make the TI irrelevant especially as it is cheaper and the performance is great for the price. Also you might want to look at the 1TB NVMe Crucial P1 which can be found on sale at $99 or less. The performance difference between the 2 will not be felt in the real world and you get double the storage for around $20 more...

The CPU cooler? Isnt that a fairly necessary component? I didnt think that the passive cooling would be enough to prevent overheating.

This will give you better gaming experience. I paired more powerful GPU with more practical resolution to give you smoother game-play over time and without compromising on visual experience at a given resolution.
All are high quality components.

Given the advice from vmax, if I just kept the R5 3600 and got rid of the CPU cooler would that be possible, or is the RX5700 not compatible? Also, I don't have a directly available Ethernet cable, so I was hoping for the built-in Wi-Fi of the asus mobo. If I scaled back these I also wouldn't need the increased power supply right? I agree with the storage and card changes however.

Is there is a reason you wanna stick with R5 3600. R7 3700X is superior in performance. I don't see the reason as the entire setup fits the budget. If you plan on spending that money on the display to get higher resolution the I recommend not doing that. One the performance is decreased as you compromise on CPU and GPU and two the performance requirement is increased so that is double hit on gaming experience. That will be a bad move. Don't do that at all.

WiFi adapter costs around $30-40. I will list one below.

You can skip on CPU Cooler if budget is going up due to WiFi adapter. R7 3700X comes with a decent cooler which does maintain temps in check no problem. You can skip on cooler.

That makes sense. If the R73700x comes with an acceptable cooler I wouldn't see a reason to get another one. I wasn't planning on getting the higher res screen i was just trying to reduce redundancy on the build. I wasn't sure that there would be a noticeable difference between the performance of the system if the same gpu was being run, and the cpus were both good performers.

I have been doing some research in other forums as well and some people are reporting driver errors on the 5700x. is this something to be concerned about?
