I plan to use it for medium-hd video editting and for light games. But wouldn't mind the ability to expand down the road. Would this setup be suffice or a bit overkill for my needs. Budget isn't too much of issue, I'm done spending money on my car. I plan on plan on purchasing parts off amazon and local microcenter I learned. I've done research on forum/reviews, and still looking over parts...

That is very close to heavy gaming and video editing. 🙂 Depending on the editing software you use, you may want to check, if a special graphics card is supported for faster encoding. Most of them support nvdia cards only.
