Hi, as the title suggests. I could use some help.

My build:

CM Storm Trooper
Asus Z87-Plus
Intel Core i7 4770k
EVGA GTX 780 SC ACX
Corsair Vengeance Pro 2400Mhz (2x8)
Seasonic Platinum Series 1000w
Samsung 840 Pro 512GB
Corsair h110 with Noctua fans
BenQ XL2411t

I will not use a HDD and I will use an external optical drive to install the OS.

My problem is that I just built this pc, but my monitor doesn't get a signal. I tried another monitor with a VGA connection, but that didn't work either.

I double checked if everything was connected, I only have 2 connectors unplugged which say WST on them. It's supposedly from some LED, but I'm not entirely sure. Everything else though, is connected.

I was reading other people's topics who had the same problem as me. I tried some of the solutions posted by some people, like booting the system with only 1 memory, but it didn't work. I made sure to have the memory cards properly connected. But still no result.

Some people mentioned that your motherboard will make a beeping sound to indicate it's working when you turn it on. But mine doesn't make that sound, but I'm not sure if every motherboard does that. I hope mine doesn't...

There are only 2 conclusions I'm able to draw here. One is that I damaged my motherboard somehow. The other is that I screwed up on the connectors.

Everything seems to run though when they receive power from my PSU, so the latter seems unlikely.

Even so, I hope someone can show me the light here, because I'm sitting in utter darkness right now.

Hi there,
I recently had the exact same problem, I just made the mistake of plugging the cable (VGA for me) in to the motherboard connector rather than the graphics card connector, pretty easy mistake but took me a while to figure what was wrong. If it is plugged in to the graphics card, try plugging it in to the motherboard and if you get signal, update your graphics card drivers.

Cheers,
Duffy.

Thank you. Just what I was looking for. I'll go through the steps and report back the results.

Fingers crossed. ;)

Amazing, my baby is alive!

Now I just have to do the BIOS thing, install windows and I'm good to go I think.

Btw, I only had the change the RAM slots and it worked. My mobo prefers me placing the memory in the 2nd and 4th slots first.

Such a simple solution. :)

Well, it seems I botched it up. I noticed in the BIOS that my CPU temps were slowly rising up to 70 degrees celcius and higher. I shut it down before it became too hot. Waited until it cooled down, then booted it again to quickly configure my settings in the BIOS. Temps seemed to be idling at 71 so I booted up from my external optical drive to install windows, but then I noticed the temperature was rising again. I went into a loading screen, so I lost track of how high the temps got. I shut the computer down because I got nervous it would overheat and my cpu would fry.

I gave a moment to cool down, opened the case and noticed that the cpu fan connector from my h110 somehow got detached from the motherboard. Must have happened while I was reseating the memory cards in the proper slots.

When I tried to start it up again, the signal to the monitor was lost again. So now I'm worried that I fried my cpu.

I'm such an idiot if I did.

Now I'm just taking a moment for me and the computer to relax and I will try booting it again after a while, but now I'm seriously worried about having damaged something. Mainly my cpu.

Well, I found the problem. I had my CPU fan connected to the wrong motherboard header and it actually prevented my system from sending a signal the monitor. I then connected my 3-pin cpu fan connector to a 4-pin header and everything was working perfectly. BIOS temps were at 31 degrees celcius and everything went smoothly, until it was time to install windows 8.

I have a OEM version, but I can't find a product key which I need to complete the install. My pc is literally waiting for me to put in the product key. So now I'm trying to figure out what I need to do in order for it to work.

I'll probably make another thread in a dedicated forum for some specific support regarding this problem.

Nevermind, I found the product key. It was very tiny and hidden, but I found it and it's working.

Windows 8 is installing and life is good.

Thanks all for the help.

Could you be more specific about the problem you're having?

In this thread multiple issues were addressed so I'm not entirely sure what you need help with.

see,i tried both the motherboard and gpu ports and still nothing as well as the troubleshoot. I might just get someone to build it for me.
