I agree. Also, it looks too much like Super Mario Allstars as well.

It might be enhanced graphically, but it still looks like the same game.
Castlevania needs a serious overhaul.

"Looks like the same game" from the limited shots you've seen that don't
show the same thing? Cool.

Why? If it's not broke, don't fix it. AoS, though, is quite a bit
different than the previous games. Are you certified, or just amateur?

That wasn't the comment made.

Why? If it ain't broke.

No??? Maybe you should elaborate.

If you like playing the same old thing over and over that's fine...for you.
I can't sit around mindlessly doing the same thing constantly. Castlevania
hasn't changed much since the first one except for graphics.

Castlevania

That's not true. Symphony of the Night was a major departure from the
established Castlevania formula up to that point. It was the first to have
leveling up, stats (other than a health bar), and of course, the main
character was not a whip-toting Belmont. It changed out the old map type
for a Metroid-style map--huge, with a lot of vertical height and secrets,
and free-roaming.
And it was so damn cool and refreshing that they've based all the recent
Castlevania games off of it, though none have matched it. If you want to
argue that it's been long enough since Symphony of the Night and they need
to freshen up again, that'd be a valid argument. But saying Castlevania's
been the same since #1 is simply not true. There have been a lot of
changes.

"The GBA version looks the same graphically."

Which it doesn't. That is all.

They're not all identical. You don't even have the same weapon in them all
for a start. And what about the soul collecting and stuff? That isn't the
same.

If they made them *too* different, they wouldn't be Castlevania.

I didn't say identical. But they're similar enough to keep *me* bored.

That's not a bad thing. It's a fun game formula. Although I would
like another true Belmont-based whip game like Super Castlevania IV
(only longer) as well. I'm just happy to see it isn't another 3D game
like the Castlevania for PS2. Although that game felt more like a
demo than anything else. I kept thinking they would make a much
bigger and superior PS2 game since they built the foundation with that
one, but...

I played SOTN through again recently and it still holds up now. There is
very little in the way of original play mechanics these days in any case.
I'm looking forward to the DS version.
