Trying to build my first computer, so that I can use it for multiple purposes video editing, photoshop-design programs,school, and for gaming(but the gaming part is the least important focus) for $2000 or under (would not mind if it went slightly over. Any help would be awesome! The help I need on is that I want a full tower build, Im trying to figure out what cpu, cpu cooler, motherboard, case, memory, storage, video card, and so that it won't overheat also. I am not worried about any monitors, operating system, lights, keyboards none of that.

How much storage do you need? Video can use a lot.

As for a GPU gaming cards are going through the roof. Your best bets are to backorder on Newegg or snipe a deal that pops up on Best Buy since they seem to keep the cards at MSRP. All options will be higher than was available a month ago.

This GPU can be backordered (B&H). I don't see any GTX 1080 available in stock or back order under $600. Since the GTX 1070 Ti is nearly identical I'd get one before it is too late. They've already gone up a lot in the last week (day even). So, tomorrow may be too late.

I chose the Samsung 850 Evo for its performance and reliability. Other brands boast good numbers but don’t hold up against Samsung. It will be great to work as a scratch disk and holding current projects in Adobe Premiere and Photoshop. Or whatever photo manipulation and video editing programs you use. The hard drive is meant for storage of projects you aren't currently working on.

If you are working on a lot of projects, very large projects or want to store games as well. Increase the SSD to the 1TB model. Also if you will be doing video editing every day. You may want a Samsung 850 Pro or 960 Evo instead for the higher write endurance. Either pay the extra money or drop the GPU to the best you can afford.

Video Editing loves RAM. Pugetsystems recommends a minimum of 32GB for HD video editing.

As for cooling this system includes plenty of fans and won’t have any problems with heat.

There is some room left in case you want more storage, backup drive, better GPU or nicer case.

knowing the specific programs would be nice as there can be huge differences between intel and amd. generally speaking it is best for you to get an r7 1700 and base everything around that. do you need everything? os/monitor/keyboard/mouse?

1. Your major usage description confuses me, can you split Usage % of video/photo editing and gaming? What resolution of video do you edit? What editing software? photo editing resolution? gaming resolution?

2. Full tower is not necessary for good cooling, well-designed mid tower with enough fans is good enough. Full is way too big.

Being a media creator, more cores is ESSENTIAL for the best media creation, and at a higher speed, there shouldn’t be any issues. A gtx 1080 Ti is top of the line, but I’m not going to ambitious enough to go for an sli setup. I bumped up the memory from 8 to 16 gb for better performance, especially multitasking (this includes cpu cores). You can always add an SSD later, but this hdd is plenty.
