I'm trying to build my first computer for gaming(Mostly BF3) and I wanted to know if these components are compatible w/ each other. Suggestions are also welcome.

Unselected best answer. kristisdbs said a lot of things wrong. The i5 can't even fit into the 990X motherboard he used, and a GTX760 can't be worse than even the 7950 boost edition.

@starrks if you ordered parts from kristisdbs's build, cancel it, because they won't work with each other.

I actually dont have any other parts, im currently building the computer from the ground up. My budget is about $800.00 and I'm not planning on OC.

It depends whats your budget
Though everything is comatible
i would go with Core i5 4670 if you are not going to overclock, but if you are going to do that in future then go with Core i5 4670k. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80646i54670
For the motherboard i would go with a http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-z87a
other are good (maybe video card would be better 7850) here is both yours and mines gpus benchmark http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/777?vs=778
BF3 is included in this benchmark

But do you have a case, power supply, cpu cooler (for overcloking) ?

Sweet! I'll probably end up getting the 7850 :) So you were saying that the core i5 would be better overall than the AMD processor I linked? I'm pretty new to all this haha

If you need jsut a case and don't want to OC, an i5 and a HD7870ghz edition would be your best picks :)

You can play all titles but Crysis3 maxed out at 1080p with this setup :)

He is not overlocking so i changed a little bit and this should be fine for you :)

Thanks! :)

Thanks! :)

Then amd was not so good, but after newest driver updates, nvidia is similar with amd. And i would go with 7870. now it choosing between 770 and 7970 i would choose 770, but comparing 760 and 7870 i would choose amd :)

Firstly, being a new builder myself, make sure you read a LOT of reviews on any part you want. Do your homework or like me you will buy replacement parts and spend a lot more than your original budget. From my own experience anytime I research an item google usually displays a Tom's review or forum discussion in the first 3 threads, in other words they are a huge collective of very helpful and patient peers. Be specific as to what you are looking for. BF3 most likely has specific qualities you can narrow down your parts and save some cash on features you wont need. Do you plan to use headphones or use aftermarket speakers? monitor speakers? depending on your needs and your ideal gaming environment prioritize your most important items and make sure your research reflects your current and near future desires. BF4 is speculated to release in october, do you plan to play this? I have read it will release along with the AMD 9000 series GPU's in a never settle bundle. might be a consideration.

You cannot compromise quality when it comes to these parts. A 500watt psu for 25.00 is not going to perform like you think, I learned this first hand. Most of the recent pc builds by the moderators here on Tom's recommend the powercolor 7870ghz tahiti le myst edition in your budget range. If i remember correctly ,they were pre gtx 760, however they are very powerful and should play nearly any game you throw at it.

Heat is a very important value in this area. A well ventilated case and efficient positive airflow increases the life AND the performance of your rig. This also directly reduces fan coil whine from all areas of your build which is purely a bi-product of cheap/malfunctioning or overstressed fans. If noise isn't a concern at least make sure you have more FILTERED air coming in the case than exiting. This produces positive air pressure and reduces any dust particles inside your rig which also extends component life. Filters are cheap especially when your mobo frys your cpu and your out 250-350.00 vs. 20.00 worth of filters.

I'm not nearly as knowledgeable as the collected intelligence here, but I was in your spot 6-8 months ago and would have an extra 1000.00 in the bank had i been more informed. Sorry I cant give you specifics on your build but I hope this helps.
Have fun and good luck

You may want to get Windows 8 it will be tge only OS to get Directx 11.2 also future games will be optimised better for AMD 8 core cpu's as of thr next gen consoles. However for now the Intel cpu's suggested above are great choices.
