I just finished setting up my first dual core system. I'm going to overclock it, but i need to know how to test it with prime95. I know that i need to copies of it open, but do i put one on cpu 0 and one on cpu1? also, what type of test should i run? thanks for your help.

Change the shortcut target to something like this:

"C:\Program Files\Prime95\Prime95.exe" -A1
"C:\Program Files\Prime95\Prime95.exe" -A0

But you are better off using Orthos IMO.

just duplicate prime95s folder...

open up one copy, go to advanced, affinity, uncheck "let program run on any CPU" and then enter 0 in the box below

on the other copy, do the same thing, except enter 1 instead

as far as testing, i typically go to options, torture test, and select "in-place large FFTs..." for both copies, and just let them both run

it says that the large test is for ram and the small test is for cpu. there is also a blended test. why run large if i'm trying to test the cpu?

i suppose it doesnt really matter which you choose... that one as far as i know, runs the longest from what ive seen so far, so you dont have to start it up again (there might be another test in prime95 like that, but this is the one i typically use anyhow)

I'm confused too. What's FFT and FPU? If I were to use the custom torture test, what would be the best numbers to put in each of those columns?
