This is my first ever build and have around £600 ($880) to spend! I have a very basic knowledge of components and think this would be a good build for using as a gaming rig with Maxed out settings on most games?!
Opinions on the choices made would be appreciated! :)

CPU: AMD FX-6350 3.9GHz 6-Core Processor (£99.95 @ Amazon UK)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970-Gaming ATX AM3+ Motherboard (£72.01 @ Amazon UK)
Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Red 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory (£25.07 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Western Digital Blue 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£47.85 @ Amazon UK)
Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 390 8GB Video Card (£269.99 @ Amazon UK)
Case: NZXT S340 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case (£55.37 @ Amazon UK)
Power Supply: EVGA 600B 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (£39.00)
Total: £609.24

CPU is a very bad choice for gaming. The AMD FX series has a low IPC, so you don't get to take full advantage of the clock speed. Also, what game takes advantage of all six threads? Also, I don't think that even Linus with the marketing power he has, would be able to build a computer to max out all settings in all games for under $2,000.

I had to sacrifice the GPU in order to stay within budget. I recommend upgrading later when you have the money

I managed to configure this??
