Did you already have said GPU? If not, you might want to consider an RTX 2070 super or 2080 super instead. Also, it makes more sense to do a 2x16gb kit, for your 32gb ram. Made some changes, getting you a better PSU, 2x16gb ram, a monitor with what should be a better visual quality panel, and a very capable, but better looking cooler.

I assumed that no price for the 1080Ti means it's already owned.

I concur with @logainofhades - 16GB is well more than enough for gaming, so go with a 2x8GB kit. Also agree the altered choice of PSU - slightly more efficiency, very high quality, yet slightly less cost.

The main purpose of this build is gaming, please tell me, if anything is that is no compatible, if anything is out of place or odd, and if I need to buy anything else to make it complete (I already have a mouse and windows 10). You don't think you'd be overpaying for that 2070? A 5700 XT will outperform that for $100 less.

That being said, for 10 bucks more you could get the Gigabyte AORUS Ultra motherboard which has better VRMs and they're cooler better than on the ASUS ROG Strix boards. The AORUS Elite also has better VRMs and cooling, and it's 169 dollars vs your 231 dollar board. (I'm an ASUS fanboii but for that motherboard budget, you get way more bang for your bucks at some of the Gigabyte AORUS boards). Also, go for a 7200RPM drive instead.

i would avoid that 5400rpm HDD...it will be noticeably slower than a 7200rpm, especially when loading games.

So far I have asked this question twice and each time I've gotten great feedback to improve my gaming build. This time I hope I can finally see that everything checks out but if that's not the case please tell me what should be changed, if there are any incompatibilities, and if this would make a good gaming PC. I'm mainly going to be using it for gaming at both 1440p and 1080p. The games I'm going to first buy is most likely r6 siege, skyrim, and any newer titles that come out such as Elden Ring, Code Vein, and Cyberpunk 2077. As far as frames goes I'd like as many as possible while still staying in that$2000 to $2300 price range.

Is it worth it to spend most of the budget on the GPU? I know its the most important part for gaming but is there that big a difference between the RXT 2070 super and the RXT 2080 ti? Otherwise, thanks for the help!

If you want 1440p ultra with 100+ FPS in demanding AAA titles, 2070 will not be enough, it is just that simple.

Agreed on the 16GB aspect.

Bang-for-buck, the i9 is NOT worth it. Same base speed and only 100Mhz extra boost speed, vs the i7-9700k, and, based on the current price on Amazon right now ($304.21), the i7 is $175 less. Even when there's not some kind of crazy sale like that, and the price gap is only about $100-$120, I'd go with the 9700k instead of the 9900k.

The 2080Ti is overkill if we're still talking about a 1920x1080 @ 144Hz monitor. If we're talking 1440p at high refresh, the story changes, of course.


That said, I stand by the fact that over 100fps is worthless/not usable, no matter what the competitive gamers claim. I'd like to see a blind study that shows anyone being able to consistently tell when a game is running at 100fps vs 120 fps vs 144 fps.
