First Gaming PC Build 800-1500 Budget

I'm building my first gaming pc and I need help deciding whether or not the parts are worth the price. I'll use this pc for gaming and video editing. Because of this, I've chosen an i7 processor. Please help me decide if I should change anything or not.

Processor: ($315) Intel Core i7-2600K Processor 3.4GHz 8 MB Cache Socket LGA1155

I plan on upgrading the RAM to 16GB (2x8GB) in a couple months. Are there any recommendations on how to get any of the same products for less money? Or any recommendations as to compatibility issues, product issues, etc.? This is my first build, so I'm hoping those components are good. Thanks!

Are you not satisfied with on-board sound? Usually you can get away with that. And 16 GB of RAM is quite a bit. I'm not sure how much is needed for video editing, but 8 GB is usually enough for everything. I could be wrong, but it sounds like overkill to me.

The good thing about the 6950 2GB is that it can be unlocked to a 6970 rather easily and overclocked as well.

Otherwise, the build looks great!

don't get triple channel memory and 8Gb is enough
unless we talking about professional video editing .. then u need Nvidia Quadro GPU
and 6950 apparently cannot be unlocked to 6970 no more .. overclocked easily .. sure .. by much not really
there r cheaper mobos with better feature .. check the Z68 line especially if u do lot's of video encoding

You want a Z68 board if you plan on editing video.
