This is what I would get with $1600 AU

You don't need a z97 motherboard or an aftermarket cooler because you can't overclock a locked chip (a non K or X chip unless it's the Pentium G3258) SSDs are quite expensive in AU, The i5 4690 is faster, The r9 290X is faster than a GTX Titan and comes pretty close in performance to GTX 780ti, Also the Seasonic power supply I have chosen is more reliable, better efficiency and a better brand.

yeah but he could upgrade to a broadwell unlocked chip. the i5 46XX series really is only needed for overclocking the 4590 is almost the same in performance no magical fps boost. the r9 290 is great is a only slightly slower than a r9 290x/gtx 780ti. Evga really isnt bad and the psu is tier 1/2 psu. plus it comes with 10yr warranty.

fair enough, The 290x is still faster than the 280x fair point about the cpus, What I was saying about the psu is that for the same money you can get a PSU that is 80+ gold from Seasonic which is a pretty premium brand and the top in PSU making, I wasn't saying EVGA is bad since I recommend they're power supplies all the time since they are cheap have great reliability and are built by a brand that we can trust.

true i agree seasonic is the most reliable.

If you can spend about $70 overbudget then I recommend that build if you are within a pretty tight budget then go for this:

Either a GTX 780 or you could get a 4GB GTX 770 which isn't as fast as the 780 but still plays every game on ultra

why would you settle for less if green team

760 crossfire or 770

780 if you can

red team

r9 280/r9 280x

or r9 290

Go for the highest performance graphics card that your money allows because it draws less power the scaling is also better, the heat is also better and you can also SLI or Crossfire (SLI for Nvidia and Crossfire for AMD) If your motherboard allows it which the build I suggested does. The GTX 780 is the fastest Nvidia card you can afford and the r9 290 or 290x is the fastest on the AMD side but I do recommend the GTX 780 because it is a bit faster and I prefer Nvidia for some reason
