Hello I have a PC with a DVD drive and a Sata HDD. I have a second Sata HDD with some files that I want to copy on my first one. I removed the sata cables that connect the DVD drive and I used them to connect the second HDD. But when I boot it doesn't recognise the first HDD. In BIOS it shows: SATA 1: Fujitsu HD (which is the new HDD) and Sata 2: DVD Drive (BUT the DVD is not connected I removed it completely!!!). How can I make it recognise the first one again so I can boot the windows from there.

Now let me guess the hard drive you are talking about contained windows as well as the files.

Your Sata devices or interface, only support one drive.
So the order they are in, in relation to booting has changed.

Make sure you have connected the Sata power to the drive as well as the Sata data cable. or the HD will never be detected. common mistake.

Because the CD drive was replaced with a HD. and is connected to Sata port 1.

So by connecting the other HD is sees it in the boot order in the bios as the first boot device.

So you have to move the origonal hd drive in the system in the boot order to number one above the new drive with data on to load windows.
Because both drives have a bootable partition with windows on it.
And second drive added no doubt used a diffirent interface mode when windows was installed.

So swap the order of boot able drives in the boot list or the bios. save the settings before exiting the bios.
Load windows copy the data over.
