First Home Build - First boot

First time posting, hoping you all can help out -

On the first boot of my new machine, my screen gave the message "Reboot and select proper boot device"

So I did just that, rebooted the computer and now I get nothing on the screen. All my fans are going, including my CPU cooling fan and I hear no beeps from the motherboard.

Any idea what is going on here? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I didn't really have the option to select anything. On the first boot I was too busy paying attention to what was happening inside the case to see what was going on on the screen. When I noticed the "Reboot and select proper boot device" I restarted the machine hoping to be able to enter BIOS setup, but now get nothing on the monitor - it just goes to sleep mode.
