First homebuilt system, $1500, need help!

This is what I have right now for my system. The 1500 dollars includes a monitor and OS. I don't really know if everything is compatible or if there are things I can downgrade without really sacrificing performance. I just want to be able to max out settings without really worrying about lag. Will be used for a variety of games.

I don't really have a wealth of computer knowledge, I basically just went to top rated parts on newegg. Any help is appreciated!

I meant the 1500 dollars does not include the monitor and operating system. With them it comes out to around 1700 dollars which is 200 more than I wanted to pay overall.

thats a great start BUT LOOK FOR A BETTER MONITOR AND A CHEAPER CASE YOU WILL QUICKLY STOP CARING ABOUT THE CASE BUT WILL BE STARRING AT THE MONITOR FOR YEARS INVEST IN AN IPS DISPLAY FROM NEC OR SAMSUNG AND TRY A HIGHER RESOLUTION TO BOOT ASUS IS ALSO NOT BAD FOR MUCH LESS MONEY.... WHY NOT A i5-3570K CPU FOR WAY BETTER VALUE OR THE Core i7-3770K IF U WANT TO STAY I7

OHH AND ANY SEASONIC psu THAT IS 700W OR GREATER IS A BETTER BET THE ROSEWILL WILL JUST DIE ON YOU IN A COUPLE YEARS GET RID OF IT

DID YOU LOOK AT ANY LIANLI CASES MUCH LIGHTER AND BETTER BUILT... LOOK AT REVIEWS OF 680 CARDS THAT YOU CAN FIND AND BUY SOMETHING PURELY BASED ON THE ACOUSTIC PERFORMANCE NOTHING ELSE WILL MATTER DOWN THE ROAD

Thanks, I really appreciate this. I was wondering why people tend to recommend the i5 processor over the i7. I thought the i7 would be integral to a good gaming desktop. I'm also curious as to why you recommend an internal hard drive and a solid state drive. I understand recommending windows 7 seeing as how everyone seems to hate windows 8.
If you could answer these questions I would really appreciate it.

+1 This is an excellent price for an extremely good gaming build that will play pretty much everything you throw at it at high to ultra settings.I would go with it.

Well the ssd for the os and games, the hdd for archive or other stuff.
With 1500$, a ssd is worth, the reason people recommend the i5 over the i7 in gaming is the value is on the i5 side, an i7 will not offer gains in performance at gaming(there could be some exceptions).
Also the difference in performance of a 680 gtx vs 670 gtx is minimal, the value is on the 670 gtx side.

Go for the i5.
