Hi!
I just made my very first homebuilt PC, and when I first booted it up, it worked perfectly. After a while though it just froze. Now whenever I try to restart it it gives me the 'windows 8 loading menu' followed by a black monitor (as if disconnected). My keyboard and mouse also disconnect. In those very few seconds that I can use my keyboard I have tried to reboot in safe mode and I have tried to change a couple of settings, but it didn't help.
I believe the problem lies with the graphics card and its power...but then again, I'm not a computer expert, so I could be entirely wrong.
Hardware:
Case: Aerocool V3X Black Edition
Power Supply Unit: Xilence Redwing Series 420W R3, 420 Watt
Motherboard:: ASRock 970 Pro3 R2.0, socket AM3+
Processor: AMD FX-4300
Graphics card: Gigabyte GV-N640OC-2GI
Memory: Kingston 8gb DDR3-1333 memory
Software:
-Windows 8, 64bit, prof. edition.
Below is a pic of the internal wiring:
(I wasnt sure about the power to the ATX12V connector...it's 8 pins, my PSU has: 1x4pins molex, 2x4 pins molex (as in...they're bundled right until they separate into 2 4pins) and 1x6+2 pins...I went with the 1x4 pins and put them in socket 1,2,5,6 as stated in the manual).
Full view of motherboard (notice the 4 pins in the ATX12V connector
Close up of ATX12V connector and processor
Close up of graphics card (note: graphics card did not have its own power supply on the card itself
I'm 99% sure I made a very simple mistake...I'm just not sure what..Thank you for your help!
EDIT: Now with list of things I tried:
-Tried To plug/unplug and replug all the wires
-Tried To plug/unplug and replug graphics card, processor and memory
-Tried To use 4 pins in the 8 pin socket, as wel as 4+2 and 4+4 (didn't matter, when it used to work it used only the 4 pin)
-Tried the entire troubleshooting list AMD Radeon suggested...didn't work.
For clarity: The PC boots, shows the windows 8 loading menu (rotating dots) and then: Black screen, monitor states that it's no longer connected. All the while my PC (or at least the fans) keep spinning
