Hey
I've followed the guide about C2Q overclocking.
I upped my FSB from 266.7 to 300 Mhz
My CPU voltage upped to 1.13125v
As we speak i'm stress testing and the temps look quite nice (load 46-49 celsius, air cooled)

In CPU-Z i've noticed that my Memory frequency has gone from 400Mhz (i use pc6400) to 375 which brings the FSB:Dram to 4:5. My question now is..should this worry me and is there something i can do to optimize it even more?

ps: i haven;t changed any memory timings.

FYI:
Mobo: Asus Maximus II Formula
Cpu: Q6600
Memory: PC6400 (5-5-5-15)

Thnx

Well first i would recommend setting the mem ratio closer to the stock speed of the cpu If possible... but for the most part your ram shouldn't be going slower when u oc... I would recommend setting the ratio closer to the cpu speed if you can... but for the most part i would say lower the multiplier and raise the fsb setting higher if u can... this way the ram will run faster as well.

What type of ram do you have anyway???? :??:

Hey thnx for your reply m8!
I have Corsair 4096Mb DDR2 PC6400 Matched pair CL4 .
Hmm some ppl suggest not touching the multiplier and other say its better :p..I have no idea who's right or wrong:p

ps: if i lower the multi to 8, and set the FSB to 337,8 then i'd end up getting 2.7Ghz. But then my Dram still wouldn't be at 400Mhz. Also, doesnt higher FSB come with much higer temps:S? Also, wouldn't my NB limit the FSB? SHould i put in a higher voltage on the NB?

Hey zip,
U make an interesting point. First i upped the FSB in steps of 25mhz..and after 2 steps i thought it'd be better to just up the voltage by 0.00625volt. I will try to lower it again see if i get a stable system.
Also, coming back on that higher FSB/lower multi..Will it at somepoint require a higher FSB voltage?

And no it wasn;t necessary to run at 300mhz. But i wanted to get to 2.7Ghz cuz a friend of mine oc'd to 2.7Ghz and that was the highest he could go..so thats why that was my goal. The temps eventually went down..8 hours prime95 and no errors. Core's where 50/50/45/45, Cpu was 45-50.
Either way i will try to lower the multi and up the FSB, also bring the voltage back to stock.

Thnx
