You've certainly got the right idea.

My feedback:

K series Intel CPUs are faster clocks, even if you aren't overclocking they are better for gaming. You would need a better cooler for the K series.

Even if you don't overclock, the Z series motherboard is good for adjusting voltage and even a slight bump in speed is good. But not necessary.

Memory is better used in dual-channel. So 2x8GB would have slightly better performance than 1x16GB. Oh, and to run memory past 2400MHz on 200 series chipset you will need a Z series mobo.

Alright so I've changed my cooler to be quiet! - SHADOW ROCK LP 51.4 CFM and my motherboard to ASRock - Z270 Pro4 ATX LGA1151. I also went with the Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2800 Memory and changed to the Intel - Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor. Is this all good?

That is all good except the cooler, for the i7-7700K you still want a better cooler.

Cryorig H5 [Universal] is my recommended cooler, good for the money and will allow some overclocking.
Cryorig H7 if you can't afford the H5.

*The H5 Universal has a thinner front fan than the Ultimate that doesn't hang over the first RAM slot.

Wonder how you get the 7700K under that budget? No offence, but while looking was this the best i could do with a decent sized ssd,

Not bad btw,the i5 8400 is a very nice cpu. Am not looking at Ryzen even.I could do cheaper on the motherboard, but that wouldn't get me a 7700K.

Just wondering if you are going over budget .... and how far.If you want to stick to that budget would the above do well.Well at least could you look at the cpu. 😉

Will be close to above 8400 build in gaming, but will be much better in streaming/multi tasking/video editing etc.
