Hi everyone,

This is my build as it stands: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/DhVT2R

It's my first one, aimed to be exclusively a gaming rig. My budget going in was £1,200 - £1,500 including peripherals, but having got more of a feel of prices and what I actually want, I'd be OK with extending that to £1,600/£1,700 including the monitor.

I'm keen to be able to play Rust at a very high quality and more demanding AAA games, Star Citizen specifically, at a good quality. I'm aiming for 1440p, largely because I'd like to futureproof this build.

Aesthetically I have no real preferences - I've fluked a black/grey theme on this one but really I only care about how it performs.

I'd really appreciate any advice you guys have, whether it be about potential monitors, the CPU/GPU combo, the MOBO I've chosen or anything else really. The more the build gets questioned, the happier I'll be with my final choices, so criticise away!

Thanks in advance

Solution
CPU - You don't need to overclock to game at high settings. For your first build, consider a non-K series CPU.
CPU COOLER - Not needed when not overclocking.
MB - Unfortunately the less expensive, non-overclocking oriented H370 and B360 chipsets won't launch until early next year so your only option for Coffee Lake is the Z370 chipset.
GPU - The Gigabyte G1 Gaming has a higher factory overclock with a bit lower price.
PSU - The Corsair RM OK, but there are better at that price range. Check out XFX, Seasonic, or the EVGA G2 / G3 / GS / GQ lineups. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html
