First pc build around $800-$900

Ok so I am trying to build a decent gaming PC for about $800, I don't really want to get near $900 but if the $100 made a big difference I would be ok with it. As the topic said this is my first build so bear with me if you could.

Approximate purchase date: Jan-Feb

System usage: Gaming and surfing the internet

Parts not required: Copy of Win 7, monitor, keyboard, mouse.

Preferred website: newegg or any other site I can do a bill me later like thing so I can pay half now and half next month.

Country: U.S.A

Parts Preferences: none

overclocking: maybe

Sli or crossfire: maybe

monitor resolution: well I am going to playing on a tv till I can save up for a good monitor so not sure about this sorry.


This is what I have come up with so far i'm really not sure about the motherboard (if it's very good or not) and the case. The rest I feel is ok.

^ Well his build would be questionable as to the length of time the PSU would function, mainly since the GX series from CM was a flop, they used cheap capacitors which would shorten the lifespan.

Overall it's OK though other spots could be allocated else where.

Nice build dont think you will have a problem with the PSU considering all capacitors are like 10cents a piece i dnt think there such things as cheap ones lol....

I looked at your build and it's nice but the only thing is I decided to get my all my parts from newegg (I know I should have edited my post but I forgot sorry) because of bill me later. With bill me later I can pay half now and the rest next month.

Which brings another question has anyone here ever used bill me later?

Also when I put together your build on newegg it was a little more than I can spend.

Yes it will run every game medium-high settings 1920x1080, if you have problems just turn AA off as that slows the frame rate considerably

(1920x 1080 is a standard 1080p hd tv)

As I said this ended up being $811 which would be a great price for me.

And one last thing if I got this build is there anything else I would need to buy ex cables, fans or will it run with just these things in it.

Well overclocking isn't a big deal for me. I just want to play most games on high or medium settings anyways.

might want a 600w power supply as 500 is minimum for that card. If you are going to use that motherboard it won't be any use having that memory as it runs at 1600 while the board take 1333

If you're not overclocking, change the i5-2500k to the i5-2500 and save $10; the only difference is the k series is overclockable. And since you're not overclocking, you're getting way more power than you need. All you need is a 500 watter from a reputable brand, like this. Pick whatever H61 or H67 motherboard has good reviews and is in your price range.

I'd recommend you just get the 2500K now and be done with it. It's nice to have the overclocking feature for the future. Plus in my build you already get a pretty solid heatsink to overclock with. It'll probably get you to the 4.6-4.7 range.

i think he needs it around 850 with shipping :I maybe. but i agree you have a nice build maybe drop the extra heat sink? can get 4.0ghz with stock i believe, i haven't overclocked because of lack of knowledge :d i'll leave that to you :3

Then OP you can drop the HSF if you need to keep it below that price. The MB, GPU and HDD are the only things w/o free shipping I believe.
