Hi,
This is what I have come up with so far for a gaming rig around $1200. Please let me know if there's any potential issues with what I've chosen, or if you have any suggestions as to what I could do better for a similar price. Any help is much appreciated as I am new to all of this

I should also note that I'm not really planning on doing any overclocking. Will the stock CPU cooler suffice?

Solution
Good build but for $1200 you can build something which has so much more performance than this. Here is what I suggest:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($208.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: ASRock Z75 Pro3 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($76.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: Kingston XMP Blu Red Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($69.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($89.99 @ Adorama)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($59.67 @ Amazon)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 3GB Video...
A reasonable and compatible build.

The stock cooler will perform fine.
Under load, the small fan may spin up and become noisy.
If noise is an issue, a cm hyper 212 or Xigmatek tower cooler for $30 will be better.

Consider deferring on the hard drive and use a 240gb ssd instead. It will hold a good number of games. It is easy to add a hard drive later if you will be storing large files such as videos.

Do you need a DVD drive?

Solution

Thanks for the advice. I'll take it into consideration, but I've got a 500GB HDD in my current PC and it's pretty full, so I'd like to have lots of storage. As for the DVD drive, yea I probably should just throw one in. Was thinking of going without, but they're cheap.

Thanks, I'll do some looking around at these parts on Canadian sites. Yea... I'm in Canada so things are either more expensive or I have to pay an arm and a leg for shipping.
