First PC Build, good or not?

Hi guys, i'm new here but have read numerous helpful threads before and thought i'd give it a go myself. I'm building a PC for the first time around the end of the holidays and have made a list of parts that I think would be good and plan to buy. If you have any changes or reccomendations, please let me know, i'm looking to spend around $2300-2400 AUS. Edit: I'm not looking to budget my build, the price stated earlier is what i'm choosing to spend
 
I'd switch the cooler to something much better - mainly something from Noctua or Cryorig. Those would be better choices than a Hyper 212. I would also see if you can squeeze out just a bit more money for an i7 - if your long term plans include VR it will make a huge difference. And change the GPU from the Asus to either MSI, Gigabyte or Zotac. Those would be my suggestions.
