Hello all,
This is a long post so I appologise in advance for the length and will appreciate it if you can take the time to read it and help me out.
I am building my first PC and am planning what components to buy, so far I'm looking at;

Tower- Aerocool X-Predator X1 Gaming Case with 12cm Interior LED Fan - White,
Power supply- XFX 650w XTR Gold Fully Modular Power Supply Unit,
CPU- Intel core i5 4690k,
CPU Cooler- Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 120mm,
Motherboard- Mod 1150 ASUS Z97-A ATX Motherboard,
Ram- Kingston HyperX Fury 1866MHz DDR3 2x 4GB,
Graphics- Gigabyte NVIDIA GTX 970 G1 Gaming Edition Graphics Card,
Network interface card- TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 N900 Wireless Dual Band PCI Express Adapter,
Hard drive- Seagate ST1000DX001 3.5 inch 1TB Hybrid Internal Solid State Drive,
SSD (For OS)- Kingston Technology 120GB Solid State Drive 2.5-inch V300 SATA 3,
Optical drive- Samsung 24x Retail SATA DVD Writer,
OS- Windows 7,
TOTAL COST £972.71

I have a few questions...
1) Will it work, will the motherboard support all of the components?
2) Will it fit in the case and is it a good choice?
3) Should I consider water cooling or will I not need it if I am just gaming?
4) Will it be likely to run games oh high/ultra graphics setting at high fps well, on games such as Fallout 4 when it comes out and others both new and older?
5) Is it worth getting the SSD and having the OS on it and a few programs I will use often so that it boots quickly and get the hybrid drive for everything else?
6) windows 7 or 8, for gaming does it matter? I am use to windows 7 but like the look and feel of windows 8 when I have used it.
7) Is the power supply suitable? Will it be enough/too much/ok?
8) Is the CPU cooler ok and will it fit? What about the optical drive?
9) Will cooling matter in this case and will it effect the running of games?
10) Is the Network Interface Card good/ok?

I am also looking at the BenQ GL2450 24-inch monitor, is that ok? I can't find the Hz of the screen so does anyone else know?

Many thanks for any help you can give

Solution
1) The card? Yes, it will work fine.
2) According to the case specs, it will accept a card up to 15.74" long (400mm)
3) Aftermarket cooling is usually only needed if you OC the CPU. Even then, the 212 EVO usually does a great job on the cool running i5
4) That will depend on the monitor's resolution, your threshold for frame rate and lag, and the game. But generally, yes.
5) Yes
6) On paper, Win8 has a slight edge. I've tried both and can't tell the difference. Your choice. If you like your OS to look like your phone, get Win8. Either way, you will have the option for a free upgrade to Win10 if you hurry.
7) Great PSU
8) The 212 EVO might be too tall. It specs out at 159mm. The case specs state 158mm max w/o side fan.

I have no experience with that monitor. Read some reviews: http://www.trustedreviews.com/benq-gl2450-review
