Hello Everyone,

I have absolutly no knowledge about PC's what a hard drive is , the diffrence and optimal way to make a PC , so I went and looked at a You tubers Budget PC build that will cost me around $1500 ( with my upgrade to 1080 G1 instead of 1070) , I plan to purchase all of the required parts on late November during black Friday and cyber Monday to save up and get some deals.

I will be using this PC for Video editing, Streaming my gaming and general watching movies etc.

My PC build:

Will be using Pauls guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gI4SHlnHFJc

Parts required:

AMD Ryzen 5 1600 6-Core CPU w/Wraith Spire - http://amzn.to/2on0tOs
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 RAM 3000MHz - http://amzn.to/2n0Bb74
GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1080 G1 Gaming GV-N1080G1 GAMING-8GD Video Card
Asus PRIME B350-PLUS ATX AM4 Motherboard - http://amzn.to/2no4aX4
SanDisk SSD Plus 240GB Solid State Drive - http://amzn.to/2pqsng1
NZXT S340 (Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case - http://amzn.to/2mfVGPs
Cooler Master 650W 80+ Gold Fully-Modular ATX PSU - http://amzn.to/2mvjKi2

Final Price : $1500

I have upgraded to the G1 1080 , instead of the 1070.

I dont think I will purchase additional hard drive space as of yet but keep that as a future investment.

Solution
Psu is overpriced , swap to a decent bronze model & you'll get a 1080 in there instead (that 1070 is drastically overpriced too)

You'll also be wanting a secondary drive , a 240gb ssd is lovely for windows & most used apps , its not going to be big enough for games or recording etc.

SOme would say that your PSU is "overkill" but it certainly allows for growth and OC'ing. Do you have a storage drive?

Yes, it's a solid streaming/editing/gaming rig.

Thanks for your suggestions, this is my reply to the tips/further questions:

First of all:

1. You suggested that I upgrade from MSI GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Gaming X - http://amzn.to/2oiHZlt to the 1080 ( Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 G1 Gaming 8G) . I noted that even with the 1080 being on sale it is $100 more then the 1070 , additonally it has 3 fans I noted which im not sure I will need. Complete honesty I dont know the difference between these two and if the second option will be better, on top of this the person who build this guide is very informed and I am worried that the 1080 might require some additional items/ I might not be able to optimize it with my current build, also my budget is tight, so im hesitant on this. That being said , if there will be a marked improvement and it is a very good idea to get the more expensive option I will go for it.

2. You said I will need a secondary drive , do you have something you can suggest that would be at a good price point, im thinking of just going with the guide and if my gaming/recording cannot be stored on my computers space to purchase it at a later date, like i said I have a tight budget.

Thanks for your time and help.

The 1080 is about 30% better. If you can afford it it is worth it. The Gigagyte G1 is probably the least expensive at the moment. it fluctuates between $529 and $499.

Western Digital Blue. Usually ~$45

I didn't see the Canadian partpicker list , I just went by those amazon where the 1080 is only $50 more

I understand now its actually a much bigger price difference for you locally.

The 1070 is not suitable for 4k at all though , 1440p yes at high settings , 1080p at max settings.
Past that resolution wise you need a 1080 or 1080ti.

I like the option of the OC via just clicking a button and if I think about it on cyber monday the G1 will probably be around the price of the 1070, so I think I might upgrade to the 1080.

Do you forsee any concerns with its capibility with my other hardware items? I dont want to get the 1080 and it not be able to perform at capacity.

Also because I will be getting the 1080, I will keep the original fan, as it could prove useful for the extra power.

Edit for matt: im an idiot, i was looking at USD for 1070 and CAD: for 1080 making the price difference huge, I dont think I will be able to afford a 4k monitor though but regardless like I said, during the black Friday sale the G1 will cost as much as the 1070 does now so why the heck not.

Edit x2: Ill leave this post up for a week, this build was made by a professional so I did not think there would be any issues, anyways for my vote Matt is the champ, thanks for the great advice bro! Any comments/Advice appreciated

No you're right mate , there is a big improvement but I'd put it at $100 extra as a limit

At close to $200 extra just not worth it.

For a secondary 1tb the WD blue as already suggested.

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/MwW9TW/western-digital-internal-hard-drive-wd10ezex

However for $25 extra you can double that storage with the tosh dc01 2tb (these are good drives , I'm currently running 3 of them)
