Hey

I currently run a MacBook pro for University. But I would like to do some casual gaming.

This means I would need to have a PC as not many games are for Mac. I will also need it to run the Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) Pro Tools 11.2.2 on it.

I am trying to keep the budget as low as possible.

All I have at the moment is a 250Gb HDD.

I hope you guys can be of assistance.

Intel (i5/i7) is better but it is also twice as expensive or so. Intel is also better for sound processing, it's faster at that.

For graphics card the brand matters little. Both have good drivers. For linux and windows. But one thing that could be in AMDs favor is mantle. It offloads low- to midrange computers. So you get a bit better performance in games with Mantle vs DirectX.

Amd Omegas (new drivers) are rocking I got to say.

But I have 1 question.
Does Pro tools run on Windows as well? Pro sound editing programs tend to be Mac-oriented.
Don't get AMD because the devs make crappy ports for them and if you wanna play Minecraft you need good single core performance which AMD CPUs dont have. Intel and Nvidia and you wouldn't have any problems i learned my lesson.
