First PC build, need help with a few components....

I have an old A10-7850k desktop that I want to replace.

I currently have run three 22" 1080p LG monitors (LG 22M38D-B 21.5" Full HD LED Monitor) that I will keep and I am going to build a new PC.

I play a few games Star Wars Battlefront, Battlefield 1, GTA, Diablo III.....etc. I only ever game with one monitor and the other two are usually playing a movie in the background and the other full of browser tabs.

I do a bit of multitasking, video encoding and photo editing. I need a system that will be able to do mostly multitask and still game with a single monitor with max settings.

I am thinking of the following components:

I7 6700 0r 7700 (non K as I am trying to keep budget down) 263 USD
Asrock H170 Fatal1ty Hyper/Performance (for light overclocking CPU/Ram) 119 USD
DDR4 16gb or 32gb? Kingston Ram (auto overclocks with this H170 mobo) 122 USD/ 244 USD
RX 480 8gb MSI Gaming X (heart set on a RX 480 but am open to which version/vendor) 270 USD
Deep Cool Maelstrom 240T RF 57 USD
Seasonic S12II 620W 65 USD

FYI I am holidaying in Hong Kong and these components are a lot more expensive at home (New Zealand). PC case and anything else I will pick up when I get home.

Any thoughts ideas?

The 6700 should work with that mobo. But you may or will need a BIOS update for the 7700.

Even tho it lists the 7700, there is no 7.20 BIOS

You wont get a lot of overclock with this mobo

Yeah, I only choose that mobo because of the external clock generator and auto ram overclocking and the price.

I don't suggest getting stuff in Hong Kong, prices actually aren't fantastic.
If you're gonna buy, get them from Aus and get the stuff shipped to NZ, I believe PCCG and Centrecom both ship to new zealand.
Local is the other option.
Budget in NZD?

About $1200 NZD (went gambling in Macau and managed to hide part of my winnings from the wife for CPU, Mobo, Ram and GPU. They are the four main things I want to get while I am in Hong Kong.

I don't want to bring back a complete desktop as I don't think it will travel well. I also don't want to attract tax on the way back through customs.

Hong Kong seems cheaper than NZ, PriceHK vs PriceSpy

I'm off to Golden Computer Centre tomorrow for a look see .

I have already bought a Dell i7 laptop while I have been here so my wife wouldn't be keen on me "wasting" more money getting a new PC. If she finds the mobo or gpu I will just say its a spare part for the vacuum

Okay, i'm going to have to tell you that you can get a better card than the RX 480 in the 1060, better optimization, faster speeds and way better temps.
Get the following.
i7 6700/7700, get the 7700 if there's only a 60NZD max difference.
GTX 1060 6GB, get the Gigabyte Windforce, as it is generally the cheapest and offers good performance.
Other ones that are good are the EVGA SSC Gaming (Desktop model, not the SC, which is ITX), the MSI OC, MSI Gaming X and the Zotac Amp! edition.
Get a B150/B250 board, the features offered vs price for the H170 chipset are minimal.
The B250 will work with both CPUs.
Some good models are the Asus B150 Pro Gaming, the Gigabyte DS3H, the Asus B250F Gaming and the Asus B150/B250-A to name a few.
2TB Seagate Barracuda HDD
If you want an SSD look at the following.
ADATA SP550, OCZ Trion 150, Crucial MX300, Samsung 850 Evo.
They follow an increasing price gradient in that order, the MX 300 is generally the best value, but the 850 Evo is the best price/performance by a mile.
STAY AWAY from Kingdian and the cheaper Sandisk drives.
Case is generally personal preference, but stick to the good brands like Fractal, Corsair, NZXT, Phanteks, Be Quiet!, Cooler Master, Thermaltake etc.

the hypers are good boards,had a i5 6500 at 4.2ghz & ram running native 2400mhz no problem at all.

the b150 hyper has pretty much the same features,same vrm setup,sme blck generator & is normally $20-25 cheaper.
16gbg ram is plenty.
Not massive on watercooling persoanlly but for $57 thats an insanely good price.

Yesterday bought a MSI RX 480 Gaming X 8gb and the Red Led Maelstrom 240m AIO cooler. i7 7700k not much more than an i7 6700k so I might pull the trigger on one of those and am looking at a MSI Z270 Gaming M3 mobo (going the black and red theme) with corsair vengeance 2x8gb red led and a MX300 750gb ssd. Will buy a seasonic 650w psu and corsair side window case when I get back to NZ.

Or maybe just pick up the i7 7700 and the MSI H270 Gaming M3......will save a few bucks, not too sure what to do.

That's the Deepcool AIO right?
They're pretty good value.
Other components are good, but I'd say get the 525GB MX300 and a 2 or 3TB HDD, 750GB is a bit too much imo, not as great value.
Go with the 7700k and Z270 board, overclocking adds much more relevance and lifespan to a PC, especially if OCing.
At that price bracket you might as well spend a few extra bucks to get the 'k' CPU and Z270 board, H270 boards are generally awful value.
The higher out of the box clock speeds will help regardless, also getting a water cooling loop but non-overclocking CPU is pointless.
CPU overclocking is quite simple, and I can guide you through it if you'd like.

Yep the Deepcool one, the Antec Kuhler looked pretty good but the Deepcool was such a good price to not let it pass by.

Yeah I kind of jumped the gun there and it looks like I will grab the 7700k and the Z270 mobo and not worry about having to upgrade for a couple of years
