Hello! I've finally decided to get a desktop from my laptop and since it's my first time actually building a PC.

I've already picked all the parts but I have some questions about my build that I can't find on google. My current build:
Motherboard: Asrock Z170PRO4S
CPU: i7-6700k
GPU: Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1070
RAM: 2 Crucial Ballistix Tactical LT 8GB 2666MHz
SSD: Kingston SSD HyperX FURY 240GB
HDD: Seagate BARRACUDA 7200 2TB
PSU: Corsair ATX 2.31 VS Series 650W
Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212X
Case: Fractal Design Core 2300

Anyway, the questions I have are about the fan, the motherboard and the PSU, since after asking around for any opinions on the build I've been getting mostly the thumbs up. Will the 212x be enough for my CPU, it's maximum RPM seems to be higher than many of the other more expensive coolers but obviously that will shorten its lifespan which I'm not that worried about. And the same for the PSU, I was told that 600W would be enough for the 1070 but I went with 650W just to be sure. I don't plan on doing any overclocking since most of the benchmarks I've seen with the 1070 at full HD were clearly exceeding my needs for gaming. Now the motherboard seems to be the smallest problem I have because the only thing that makes me question it is that someone told me that Asrock motherboards were garbage even though I haven't found articles or reviews that confirm that. Any other suggestions are welcome to help me make this build better. If you've read this far I just want to thank you for investing time into this thread.

A higher RPM fan doesn't necessarily mean a shorter life. For a given size fan though it does mean it is proportionately more noisy. If you want silence, look for CPU coolers with 140mm fans. Though for a non-overclocked i7-6700k any 120mm rifle cooler like the 212X is going to be okay. A common recommended alternative is the Cryorig H7 cooler, as it has an easier installation.

Everyone has personal experience with motherboards. Your results may vary. ASRock has a firm foundation as a former bargain brand of ASUS. Since their departure they have offered some of the best budget boards. Though you are aiming a bit higher then that it seems.

I would recommend a higher quality power supply. See here: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

I looked through the tier list and I saw it at tier 4 but I also checked topics where people had that PSU integrated to their similar system and it they didn't have any problems. So is it really that necessary to upgrade my PSU or will my performance be the same with this VS series PSU?

Nothing wrong with the Asrock board, hey make some budget boards that are lower quality on purpose. So they can be stupidly cheap like $30. I've used many Asrock boards like that one, shouldn't have problems.

Agree on the cryorig H7. I have it, runs amazing and quiet.

And agree on new psu. Get tier 2 minimum. Usually a safe bet to stick with Xfx, seasonic, and evga

I think the list may be a little out of date in regards to some of the lower tiers. OEMs get switched around a lot down there. I would have to sit down and see if the VS series is actually still by Channel Well. They make some decent power supplies anyway, so odd to see them rated so low. A common one is the CX series as being of low quality, but the CXxxxM modular series is a channel well product and I find it acceptable for low power systems.

Think of it this way, you paid $450 for a GPU and $330 for a CPU. Is throwing twenty extra bucks to get a more stable and reliable system worth it?
