I've never built a PC before, so right off the bat let me just say that any advice will help.

I would prefer a cheaper CPU cooler if possible, and a better video card if needed. I also don't care much about the case. I also want a 128GB SSD but, I'm note sure which one..

In a little detail I want a PC for around $1200-$1400ish in price (not including monitor, speakers, keyboard etc.) I'm planning on editing short films in a couple of months. I'm not sure what editing software I'll be using, I was thinking Final Cut Pro X though. I'm also planning on some heavy gaming along with game recording and editing. Editing is the biggest concern as I'm going to be getting a film degree. However, I want to be able to pretty much play and record any game without any problems on high settings.

Site note: I'm not sure if I should go with Fraps or Dxtory. I want to use Fraps but, I'm not sure the correct way to use it exactly.. What I mean is playing the game on the HDD and recording on the SSD or something? If someone could explain this to me that would be great. Also what to save on which drive would be good. (OS, Games Etc.)

Are all of my components compatible? Will I be able to run programs such as After Effects too?

Thanks in advance!!:)

*EDIT* -- I just went on a website and built a PC using their configuration and this is what I got -- http://www.ibuypower.com/Carts/ShoppingCarts.aspx

This is pretty much, sorta kinda what I want??? Should I just do something like this where someone builds it for me as I've never build a PC before? Also is this a better deal than buying all of the parts on my own etc. Are these even the correct parts as I have in my build?

Also useful: Antistatic wristband.

Well, it's a big investment, but living in a developed country tends to require a lot of big investments. Cars, insurance, college bills... in that context, it's actually a pretty minor investment. That said, I completely understand. I was a wreck for days when I was designing my first high-end PC.
