Hi all,

Ive just upgraded my cpu to a 7700k and with it applied themal paste for the first time, something is telling me that ive applied to much but all temps seem good atm (with H100I V2 cooler), i get idle temp of 30C and 65-70 under load, these all seem good ?

I have the same cooler but on a 6700k overclocked 07%. The temperatures are fine. If I am right, you're probably hearing your fans speed up easily, though. Long story short, it should go away in about a week just make sure you applied everything fine. If you're interested in the specifics as to why I think it'll go away, read my following, lengthy paragraph.

That happened to me when I bought the 7700k too, and then I returned it to get the 6700k thinking the Skylake are probably better supported. To my surprise, they reacted exactly the same. I just left it as is and found a good fan speed in the BIOS. Basically, I set the fans to stay at about 70% (I have six fans including the two for the radiator) and only spike up if temperatures...

Basically, I set the fans to stay at about 70% (I have six fans including the two for the radiator) and only spike up if temperatures reach higher than 70 degrees. After about a week with the new thermal paste, I started noticing better temperatures. Now it typically idles with several programs open at about 29 degrees. The only thing that's always spiked a bit higher is the GPU (GTX 1080 at 36~) but that's to be expected with how much I the processes I have use it even at idle.
