Is WD just better quality? I have a WD external HDD and it's a nice piece of hardware.

Theyre both equal in quality, however Seagate has a higher failure rate as opposed to WD for gaming a WD Black drive is preferred among gamers. :D

The only WD I've personally seen problems with was some fo their WD-Blue series from 1-2 years back. Should be fine now, but I still avoid them to be safe.

WD Black should be fine.
Most current Seagates are also fine, although they had a few duds a few years ago as well.

My current fav for 5.25 1TB drives is the Samsung Spinpoint F3. Hard to find at times but an excellent HDD.

yea a lot of people complain that the have issues with Seagate although i never have personalty. other than that looks nice. little OCed machine. It should give you a lot of performance for a affordable energy efficient build.
