Hey all,
I’m looking to put together a budget build for the express purpose of some light gaming. I won’t be playing ultra-demanding games, I will mainly be playing LoL and Starcraft 2. I’m not bothered about running everything on the highest settings possible, medium settings would be fine for me.
I’m on quite a tight budget, I’m looking to put the whole thing together for no more than £270. This is my first time building my own computer, so I apologise in advance for any stupid questions. This is the build that I’ve come up with so far:
Motherboard Bundle from Novatech. This includes a Micro ATX motherboard with the Intel H61 chipset, an Intel Pentium G870 dual core processor at 3.1 GHz and 4GB of RAM with a frequency of 1333 MHz. It comes pre-assembled and tested and costs £120.
Gigabyte GeForce GT 640 OC. Not really sure why I chose this. It was recommended to me by a friend who said it would be good for what I wanted.
Western Digital Caviar Blue 160GB (7200rpm) SATA 8MB 3.5 inch Hard Drive (Internal). I just went for a cheap 160GB HDD since I don’t really plan on using much hard drive space.
Sony AD-7280S-0B 24x Internal SATA DVD Multi Writer. I just went for the cheapest DVD writer I could find.
Novatech Cougar 5 with 500W PSU. I went for this as it seems like a good case and it was cheaper than buying a case and PSU separately.
So that is my prospective build. Do I have everything I need? Are all the parts compatible? Are any parts I’ve chosen dreadful? Are there better items that I could get within my limited budget? Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thank you.
EDIT: I forgot to say, I already have a keyboard, mouse, monitor and OS so I don’t need to purchase those.
