First time build. Need some help!

Hey everyone.

This is my first time building a computer. I've put a list of parts together and I was looking for some input. The computer is going to be used for gaming and I am looking to overclock. Any recommendations for better value, performance, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

I play mostly FPS's but do plan on playing games like DayZ in the future.

Anyway, here's what I have so far.

CPU: Intel Core i7 3770k NewEgg

MoBo: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155 NewEgg

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) NewEgg

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB NewEgg

Case: Cooler Master HAF 922 NewEgg

PSU: Corsair Enthusiast TX 650 W ATX 12 NewEgg

Those parts are all fine. I would drop the i7 to an i5 3570k, since for gaming you don't need the i7's hyperthreading, and I would use the savings to upgrade the GPU to a 670 (Gigabyte makes a very good one).

Also, if you intend to OC you'll need a CPU cooler. I recommend the Hyper 212 Evo and the Noctua D14, depending on how much money you intend to spend. The 212 Evo is quite cheap and has great performance, while the Noctua has better performance (though it won't matter on a small OC) but is more expensive.

Ok, then in that case you're "cool" (get it? )

Yep, so I'd just change the CPU and get a 670. Other than that you're good

+1 for dropping to an i5-3570k and using the extra ~$100 to upgrade the graphics card.

Just one more question. What brand would you recommend getting the new GPU from?

Yeah +1 to dropping the i7 for an i5. I'm not saying the i7 isn't worth getting I'm just saying that if you are gaming you are better pumping cash into the GPU instead.

Gigabyte makes what I think is the best 670, it has great cooling and is pretty quiet.
