[SOLVED] First time build! Opinions welcome

Hey everyone!

I've decided as a pet project to help me get through these tumultuous times to build a computer! However, having now watched more YouTube Videos about the topic than I'd care to admit I'm still struggling with trying to build a computer in which all the parts are compatible and wrestling with terms like PCI Slots. For this build I set myself a budget between 1250 - 1500 euros (1100 - 1360 GBP) as well as a few conditions.

• Low to - Mid level gaming
• Ability to use creative applications for graphic design and drawing (Possibly a bit of 3D modeling int there as well).
• A motherboard which I could upgrade in the future.
• Relatively quiet

So here's a (very) rough sketch of what I was thinking of putting together,

CPU - Ryzen 5 3600
GPU - RTX 2060. / 5700XT. / RX5700 (Not sure which one to go with).
Memory - Corsair or Ripjaws 2 x 16 gb DDR4
Storage - 500gb SSD (again not really sure which one to go for)

That's really all I've got so far as I find with the sheer quantity of motherboards, cases, power supplies and CPU coolers quite overwhelmed.

Any help /advice would be very much appreciated!

CPU: Good choice
GPU: The 5700XT is a really good option if you want to do 1440P gaming. Between the 2060 Super and 5700 I would get the 2060 Super for the better Nvidia drivers, most likely it will net better performance in most games.
RAM: Get whatever is cheaper, the Ripjaws are a really good option though.
Storage: For SSD the Crucial MX500 and M.2 P1 drivees are both really good options and better priced then the popular Samsungs.


For cases any of the big brands, Corsair, Phanteks, Fractal, NZXT and even most of the Cooler Masters are pretty solid these days. Some popular budget case are the Fractal Design Focus G, Phanteks Eclipse P300 and Corsair SPEC-04

For a CPU cooler you dont really need one with a 3600, the stock cooler is adequate for stock and minor overclocks.

For the motherboard the B550 would be your best option although they will cost alittle more then the older B450. Gigabyte makes a pretty good budget B450 and B550 board called the B450M/B550M DS3H.

The hardest to findand most expensive thing you are going to buy will be the power supply. Unfortuantley global supply chains have really effected supply of them. Here is a good guide for selecting a PSU, I would stick to tier A or B

Thanks so much for your helpful response - It's really appreciated!! I'm still a bit unsure about a few things though;

You said the 5700XT would be a good option for 1440P gaming, do you think the 2060 Super or the 5700XT would be better for 1440P gaming? Which also brings me to my other question, could you recommend a good monitor? I'd thought about buying a 27 inch IPS monitor with G-Sync (or Freesync?) and maybe HDR?
