Hey guys, first time builder here. I've been doing research for a while and think I have an 'OK' build on a budget, but I'm probably wrong. My main concerns are GPU, CPU, and mobo. I'm going with AMD this build for budget reasons and it's my first.

For CPU I picked the FX8320 and am hoping to OC it.

For motherboard I am going to go withASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ ATX

GPU is where I have the most concern. It sounds OK to me but a second opinion would be nice. For GPU I picked ASUS Raedon R9 270x 4GB GDDR5

I have everything else situated included a CPU cooler and PSU. I have a Cosair 500w (Too lazy to find ATM) and a Cooler Master 212 EVO

Hoping to hear what you guys think. Cheers!

Have you ever used partpicker.com? It's great for picking parts and sharing.

What is your budget?

The FX8320 is alright, but it's old. It will do if you really want to stick with AMD.
You could probably do better than a 270x
You need a better psu than a 500w Corsair.

Yeah, I started to use it but quit because I changed my build so many times. Here's what I have now: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/BlarFlargen/saved/6dcypg

My budget is around $700 for everything

I picked that specific GPU because MicroCenter has it listed at $175, which seems good since it's $300 on NewEgg.
I plan on buying a 600w now. I just had that PSU lying around and thought it would be a "Good start"

$175 for an Asus 290x???? Wow that's awesome. Get it now! haha

That motherboard is not good. You have it listed at $4.99??? What's that about? (I still wouldn't use it even at $5)

Is there a reason you are sticking so close to amazon? You can do better on prices for the RAM and hdd.

That 600w Corsair is not any better than the 500w version. Get a more reliable unit.

A made a few changes for better deals, and a much better psu. I also think you should spend the extra $12 and get the CM 212 Evo over the smaller TX3

I also recommend a 970 series motherboard

not sure where your seeing a 290x for $175, i looked at microcenters website. if its an in store only option for refurbished.... maybe, but i still highly doubt it. otherwise if this is purely for gaming and your not going to be rendering, transcoding, editing, or other highly threaded non gaming apps... you really should go with intel.

I agree you should go with Intel too. I wouldn't chose AMD at any price range. Now having said that, I try really hard not to constantly shove Intel down everybody's throat in every AMD post. The FX8320 will work just fine. (if you're into old tech hehe)

it really depends on what games you are trying to play. battlefield 4 multiplaer runs notoriously better on intel than it does on amd... to the point where having an 8320+780 is the same as an i5+770.

if you live near a microcenter, you should be able to get a basic i5 plus h97/z97 combo for cheaper than what im listing below. but for $700(without os) you can build a very solid gaming system.
