Hi all,

I am planning on building my first gaming rig from scratch. I've had a few friends who are intelligible when it comes to computers to give me advice (mainly on the mobo) but I'd like to see how others would rate the quality (or lack thereof) of the rig.

My PcPartPicker link: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/Fulcrosity/saved/w66mP6

Below is my current list of buyables
CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($256.89 @ DirectCanada)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus 76.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($43.85 @ Newegg Canada)
Motherboard: ASRock Fatal1ty Z97 Killer ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($133.98 @ Newegg Canada)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($75.67 @ DirectCanada)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($62.98 @ DirectCanada)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card ($409.75 @ Vuugo)
Case: Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case ($59.13 @ DirectCanada)
Power Supply: Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($64.99 @ NCIX)
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer ($17.75 @ Vuugo)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 - 64-bit (OEM) (64-bit) ($108.34 @ TigerDirect Canada)
Monitor: LG 22M35D 60Hz 22.0" Monitor ($113.18 @ DirectCanada)
Keyboard: Logitech K120 Wired Standard Keyboard ($10.68 @ DirectCanada)
Total: $1357.19 (tax not included)

Including tax + rebates the rig itself is $1533.62.

How is the rig bang for buck-wise?

Note: I originally had an SSD in the build but am planning on dropping it and getting it later in favor of a superior mobo.

Planning on getting the SSD some other time when I have the funds. The SSD isn't as much of a necessity as a good mobo imo.

I considered the seasonic, however it's above my budget and honestly can not spare more than what I have as of right now so I went for the next best thing.

You made a typo then. Will consider the 520w. Just need to do some research to convince myself.

EDIT: did some research and will make the swap.
