Hi, I'm a first time builder and I've ran into some issues.

Specs:

Asus A88XM-Plus motherboard
AMD 845 Athlon processor
GTX-1050ti 4GB (gigabyte) GFX
Integral 8GB ram DDR3 1600mhz
Coolermaster Hyper 212 CPU fan
cIT black series case with a built in PSU of 500w

On the first construction of my PC I was able to get the fans, PSU, and everything else running albeit not getting a signal on a TV. I later found a checklist and went through it, it is important to note that on first construction I did not install the standoffs, not knowing they were needed for micro atx boards.

After constructing it again with standoffs this time I am only receiving lights on the motherboard and no response from everything else. I have reconnected the front panel cables numerous times and I'm clueless to what could've happened and whether or not I should just go and hopefully get a refund. I have done a paperclip test to no avail either.

Please note that the motherboard standby light comes on and that the GPU boost light comes on when the switch is flicked.

Please excuse any bad etiquette as this is my first time posting and the amount of money I've put in is stressing me out, knowing it could all possibly go to waste.

Check all of your connections from your PSU to the components in the computer. Make sure every cable is seated properly.

Next, make extra sure your RAM is seated completely in their slots. This is a common issue for new builds. Take the sticks out and place them back in and make sure they click into place.

Make sure your hard drive/SSD is connected properly with a SATA cable and SATA power from your PSU.

look at the motherboard cpu guild make sure your cpu is on it. also check what rev the bios needs to post your cpu. make sure your mb at that rev or higher. pull the gpu and one ram stick see if the mb will post. if not try posting it outside the case to rule out a dead short.

let take everything out and re-install them one by one, take your time to check for connections (Don't Rush).
Did you connect both 1 x 24-pin EATX Power connector(s) and 1 x 4-pin ATX 12V Power connector(s) to the motherboard?

Yeah I did, it looks loose but I've pressed down hard enough and they don't go in further without the motherboard bending excessively. I've done this multiple times and it does not work whatsoever.

My theory right now is that the included PSU you got with that case is malfunctioning and should be replaced. If you can use a different PSU or borrow a friends in the mean time to test it then I urge you to do so. It would behoove you to buy a new, better quality PSU.

This would explain why multiple boards have failed to work and why nothing changes no matter how many times you move hardware around.

For standoff’s, you just screw the standoff into the motherboard tray inside the case (in the corresponding holes that line up with your motherboard). Place the motherboard on top of the standoff’s and screw the standoff screws into the standoff through the motherboard holes. There is no need for washers and could actually cause a short. If you have washers in there then take them out.

Just reconstructed without washers etc and still the same response of a green light on the motherboard and nothing else. Made sure EVERYTHING was put in properly and I've still gotten the same response.

Most likely a fault with the hardware now, im thinking. I've checked that the CPU is in properly, which it is. RAM is in correctly, so I'm led to think that either the PSU or motherboard has gone.... How I wish I could go back to two days ago lol.

Is there any way to fix this green light problem? Or have I done myself out of a mobo or PSU? Or perhaps both....
