I've decided to build my first PC, and after much deliberation, have come up with a parts list. I'm wondering if I can get some advice as to whether these would suit my needs, I'll be using it primarily for video editing for You tube (and making intros) plus intensive feature length video edits, and a lot of gaming (Skyrim, BF3/4 GTA, FALLOUT 3/NV and will initially want to play max setting at 1080p, with hopes to move to 2560 x 1440 when I get my second / third gtx 660 ti. I'm also unsure of whether to watercool it? With the parts I've got I can't stretch to it. My limit for the whole system inc peripherals is £1450-60

Intel Core-i7 3770K £263*
Asus P8Z77-V Premium £264*

The only gripes I would have with getting 670's is the value for money isn't great, I've been told I could overclock the 660ti's to near stock 670 performance?

Well first of all, I wouldn't recommend SLI or CrossFire. So a single GTX 670 will last longer and has better performance than the GTX 660 Ti. But if you want to save some money now, get the GTX 660 Ti, and then when it gets too weak, buy a new GPU.

Hmm. I've always been told one card is always safer, but I can't afford any single card that would get the levels of performance I'm looking for, and also in terms of value for money, I'll just go 660ti sli. Also case wise, I'm kind of looking for one that would handle anything i'd want to build in it, in terms of water cooling and maybe XL-ATX if I ever go there. I looked at the HAF X...but it has colored I/O cables 🙁 I want a black themed inside.

The only issue that I have with the NZXT Switch 810 is the poor build quality. Most of it is plastic. It is also hard to carry around. If you carry it incorrectly, you can easily break something.

Yes, I did think about that, it seems they've sacrificed build quality / materials for a feature-rich case. I'm not too worried about moving it around. Now the only question is, I'm thinking of doing a color scheme, If I did red, I'd have to go with either the sabertooth or the Maximus V Formula, If Green, It'd be the G1 Sniper 3, and blue, it would be the board you suggested. This along with Corsair sp120's and AF140's for their colored bands.

I always find myself taking the opposite route. I'll choose the case first, then build everything around it. So if the case is black with red LEDs like the Storm Trooper, I'll get mostly a black theme with red highlights, and red LED fans etc.

That probably would have been a better option, well considering the Switch 810 doesn't have any LEDs, and I'm going for a black / gunmetal grey, any suggestions on theme + LEDs? As far as components it would seem to be cheaper to just get a black mobo and red RAM, then light it up red with strips and fans.

PS: I'm seeing the occasional comment in forums that it's not worth investing in a Z77 based pc anymore? With Haswell coming?

ASRock boards match well + G.SKILL Ripjaws X (red) or Corsair Vengeance (black) + Phanteks PH-TC14PE (black) or Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo (gray/black) + Corsair SP120 Red / Cooler Master R4 SickleFlow Red / etc.
