First time building a pc, need some help!!!

Need some reassurance that my build will work and some advice (personal suggestions) on what i should swap out or replace to save money. Hopefully this will play most games 1080p high to ultra settings

Well first off you only need like 450 watts for that so 1000 is a complete waste or money unless your planning a sli setup in the future and even then 1000 watts is more than enough.

Ok, so change either the CPU or the motherboard as using an unlocked CPU on a locked motherboard is pointless, look for z97 chipset motherboards. If you are not interested in overclocking then look for an i5 without a 'k' on the end. Your PSU is overkill for your current needs, for a 280x look for something that is close to 600W. Also may I suggest this RAM as its good value currently:

An H97 is not locked in any way they just dont overclock as well at Z97 your fine with that cpu and board if you are serious about overclocking a z97 is the best bet but an H97 is fine for some light overclocking.

You have selected a power supply that would power two of you graphics cards. If you aren't planning on Crossfire, then I would drop that to a 750 watt power supply. Given the type of gaming system that seem to be building I would advise a Z87 or Z97 motherboard. I would bump up the RAM to CL9 1866 or faster RAM.

This is Guru3D's generic power supply recommendation for the R7 and R9 series:

AMD R9 280X - On your average system the card requires you to have a 550 Watt power supply unit.
AMD R9 280X Crossfire - On your average system the cards require you to have a 750 Watt power supply unit as minimum.

If you are going to overclock GPU or processor, then we do recommend you purchase something with some more stamina.

Yup i would go down to 500watts if i were you 750 is still wayyy more than enough for your build.

I guess your right thats a stupid card it shouldent need anywere near that much power very unefficent.
