Question First time building a PC problems

Hello everyone,

I just built a computer but i still haven't been able to use it.

Specs:

Motherboard: Gigabyte B450M DS3H
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3000 MHz CL16 (CMK16GX4M2D3000C16)
GPU: Gigabyte Radeon RX580 Gaming 8GB DDR5 MI Bulk (no idea but in my store it had bulk in the name though i can't find this one on the gigabyte site)
PSU: Corsair VS550W 80 Plus

Thing is, since i built it, i couldn't get the post error and it wouldn't send a signal to the monitor. So i went into a friend's house and we checked GPU (because I was suspicious it would be a bad one) but it worked. We tested with his ram and didn't work out. We eventually got to the conclusion it was CPU issue and were able to fix it.

After that, i got home and tried again but this time it actually posted, but still couldn't get a signal transmitted to the monitor. Any ideas what it is? The post error was a continuous long beep (Memory not correctly installed) which i checked on the gigabyte site too. While checking for solutions i actually found out my RAM isn't supported by the motherboard. But when I went into the store, the guy said he could order it but he never had that issue before.

Should i try to get one RAM that is in the supported list or should I check for other possible causes (and if yes, what are they) because i can't ask for it in the store since i bought it on another store that has no physical stores in my country at least.

Sorry if poorly texted but I hope you guys understand :s

the "supported list" or the Qualified Vendors List or QVL is meant to ensure broad compatability. they cannot and do not have a sample of every memory to test for every model board. they have a broad spectrum and test to make sure that it works. the QVL is not a list of the only modules that will work, just the ones they had on hand and tested with when they made the board.

what is the speaker saying? no, the one on the motherboard. see step 17 here.
not there/do not have one? you can make one.
canned diagnostic speaker rant: speaker making 101
The diagnostic speaker is the motherboards main diagnostic feedback device.
the motherboard may be telling you where the problem is.
my speakers have this plug

I use lamp wire but any stranded wire will do. literally any stranded wires. strip one end like so
http://www.antiquelampco.com/Shades/CordColors.jpg
attach the stripped end into the speaker spring clips on the speaker.
the other end of the wire should be trimmed like so the semi strip
https://wesbellwireandcable.com/images/cutwire.png
by doing a semi strip the wire case is now the socket.
plug one wire to the first pin, and the second onto the fourth pin.
power on the system and listen for beeps
end canned rant

the speaker will let the motherboard tell you what is failing the POST (Power On Self Test).
count the beeps/pattern of beeps and cross reference against the motherboard model number. different beeps signify different errors.

In the Award Bios gigabyte uses, 1 continuous long beep is usually a memory installation error. Make doubly sure that your sticks are in slots #2 and #4 from the cpu and are firmly seated and locked in place.

If that checks and no boot, use each stick in slot #2 individually, you may have a bad stick

yeah still same issue on slot #2. had them installed on slot #1 and #3 with same error beeping :/ guess it's ram changing time

With Ryzens, ram placement is important, they can be quite picky. AMD recommends for a single stick A2, for dual A2/B2 and only use A1+B1 for 4x sticks.

If neither stick works, I'd be checking the underside of the cpu for possibly bent pins, but I'm inclined to believe that'd show up as a memory error, not a mem installation error. Could be wrong though.

For Ryzens, I'm a big fan of the Cas14 Gskill Trident-Z/RipJaws V/FlareX , Patriot Elite, Adata XPG as those use Samsung B-die IC's. The Corsair LPX use SK Hynix IC's, which did have compatability issues, but those were supposedly ironed out with subsequent microcode bios updates to the B350/X370 mobo's and hard-coded into the B450/X470 bios. Mostly though that wasn't a working issue, mostly a getting to rated speed above 2666MHz issue.

You have reset the cmos?

just reset the cmos and same issue..and yeah, i reinstalled the cpu a while ago cuz it was the first issue with my computer but now it's fixed :/ so i know it doesn't have bent pins..

tbh it was kinda home made. thermal paste from first fan (the one that came with the cpu) between pins so i used alchool to take everything out. went from no post to posting memory not correctly installed :s
