Hi guys,

If anyone can help me, i am currently building a PC, an am not very technical, i have a good understanding about computers and its hardware, but not in full detail. so i discussed with a company in the UK, named Novatech and decided to buy a few components from there, obviously if i can find other reliable places to buy components i will.

i am not too sure about the compatibility of my components as well.
Ok so basically i am starting from scratch, i have bought a (links included):-

Sharkoon Bulldozer Mid tower ATX case: http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/4044951014149.html#reviews

That is all! I am looking to purchase the rest but need some advice on whether i should purchase these items; and they are as follows: -

- ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) Motherboard
http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/motherboards/intel1150z87chipset/atxformfactor/90mb0fu0-m0eay5.html

- Novatech 850Watt Power Station V2 Black Edition Modular Power Supply 80Plus Bronze
http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/powersupplies/651wto850w/nov-psb851.html

- Corsair Hydro Series H80i High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/cooling/watercooling/cw-9060008-ww.html

- G.Skill RipjawsX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-14900 1866MHz Dual Channel Kit
http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/motherboards/intel1150z87chipset/atxformfactor/components/memory-pc/ddr3pc3-149001866mhz/f3-14900cl10d-16gbxl.html

(wasnt too sure about the RAM)
- G.Skill RipjawsX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/memory-pc/ddr3pc3-128001600mhz/f3-12800cl10d-16gbxl.html

- 4th Generation Intel® Core™ i7 4771 3.50GHz Socket LGA1150

Not really clear about fans as i want it to be as silent as possible.... and this is what Novatech suggested

- Akasa Silent Cooling Fan - 120mm
http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/cooling/fans/100mmplus/ak-191bl.html

- Samsung 224DB 24x DVD Re-Writer - SATA - Black - OEM
http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/opticaldrives/satadvdwriters/sh-224dbbebe.html

And finally...
- MSI GeForce GTX 760 TWIN FROZR GAMING OC 2GB GDDR5
http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/nvidiageforcegraphicscards/nvidiagtx760series/n760tf2gd5oc.html

This is one concern i am having, as it a bit too expensive, and i don't know if its worth it.
i would like if anyone can give some advice and update my list and obviously ass a few more as i still need more, such as hard drive etc...

Could anyone help me build and finalize my list

PS: I am NOT a hardcore gamer, i do play 'occasionally' and i do however do graphic design and 3D Modelling so rendering will be the key area for me....

I don't want to spend so much that it would be easier to buy an iMac

My price was around the 800 mark give or take a couple hundred. but obviously i went a bit over i would like NOT to go too far, or even replace a few components.
I would like to keep the Maximus Hero Mobo and the i7 processor (unless someone gives valid reasons why.)

Thanks for taking the time to read, i am looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

That motherboard is way extreme overkill for what you're doing, and so is that cooler. Why do you want to stick with that motherboard?

The 760 is a great card for gaming, but also very good for modeling/rendering with its CUDA cores. I would go with that.

DEFINITELY do NOT buy a Mac. You will get half the performance (as they use laptop parts) at twice the price. This is under your 800 mark, including the HDD, with 16GB of RAM.

Hi Obsessed,

Thanks for the quick reply, and awesome response; The reason i am sticking with that Motherboard, was just my thinking, as if i had a high spec board, it will give me the opportunity to upgrade other components in the future till i am happy with my system...
I will be running a lot of programs on it, hopefully on a 2-3 screen setup, and all i want is performance that can handle high amount multitasking.

If you say this list would do that, i will definitely have a look at it, and get a few more opinions to it.

And again thank you so much for the fast response!

Running multiple screens has nothing to do with the board, but more with the GPU. If you are planning on SLI in the future, you would need a different board, but you can't SLI on a Mac, so I wasn't anticipating that :p lol

If you're going to be using the 3 screens for stuff like editing/rendering/etc., the setup above is plenty powerful to do all of that. If you want to game on 3 screens, you'll need more horsepower.

Also dropped the PSU down a little, as 850w is enough for running 2 760s in SLI, and isn't needed for the build I posted above. Finally, I added the Hyper 212 EVO to make the system quieter, but you don't really need it since you won't be overclocking.

Thank you so much for that, but the purpose of mentioning a Mac, was not because i was planning to get it, it was in my mind as a graphic designer, but being a student its a bit toooooooo pricey :p

I am quite happy with what you suggested hopefully i can finalize my decision within the week so i can get to ordering my parts :D

Well, you could hacktivate it and run Mac.
