Hey everyone,
I have a stupid question... So I am assembling my PC for the first time and I just built in the CPU. I watched some video where it just slid in, however when I attempted to build it in, it only slid in on the diagonal corners while the others didn't. It was basically bobbing.
I checked many times but the CPU was in the right place. So I pressed a little bit on the stubborn corners (just like you'd press the home button on your phone) and it kinda "scratched in". It felt not smooth. More like the lock wasn't 100% open or so (it was, I triple checked).
Now I have 4 worries :
First I'm worried I damaged the CPU (because of that scratchy feeling).
second I'm worried if I take it out to check it'll break
Third I'm worried if I keep it in and it is damaged it'll damage the Mainboard too upon switching it on
4 I'm worried it's not completely in (i didn't want to press too much)

Can someone calm my nerves and tell me what I should do please? 😀

Solution
Yea it doesn't look like the CPU nor socket are damaged. If the CPU is going into the socket smoothly without the teetering then it should be fine. Install the CPU cooler and try booting the system.
Not trying to make your nerves worse but any CPU, be it Intel or AMD should not be "teetering" in the socket. You should probably remove the CPU and check the pins on either the CPU or motherboard socket to make sure there not bent. I would advise against turning the system on without knowing if the CPU is properly installed.

Also posting some images of the bottom of the CPU and motherboard socket may help us help you figure out what the next steps should be.
