First Time Gaming PC

So I am making my own gaming PC for the first time and want to make sure I am getting the most bang for my buck. I am trying to keep my budget to around $1000 and this is what I'm looking at now.

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K $210
Graphics: Geforce GTX 660ti $285
Mobo: ASUS Sabertooth z77 $240
RAM: G.Skill ripjaw X 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 $73
HDD: WD black 1TB 7200RMP 64MB Cache $90
Power: Antec Earthwatts 650W $70
Case: Antec 900 $100
And some kinda optical drive

Is this a good rig? Does all of this fit together nicely and/or is there anything else that could be cheaper and better? And is there anything else that i would really want or need?

HDD : switch to Seagate Barracuda.
Mobo : if you really want to pay that price, go for an Asus Maximus V Gene, otherwise get an ASRock Z77 Extreme4.

Is it worth paying that much for the Mobo? or will the ASRock allow for about as good performance?

In games the Asus one might give you 2 more FPS if that little thing means something to you... might be easier to overclock too.
