I've been a gamer for years, but have never had a computer that could play a game without having to be on the lowest settings. Hoping to change that with this build. It is going to be mostly for gaming, but I have started out playing around with music production so that should probably be a consideration as well. I play a lot of Assassin's Creed, some Marvel Heros, and some SWTOR

For the processor I was thinking an I7-7700K. For the graphics card I was thinking a GTX 1080TI, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to pull that off without having to skimp on something else. Generally it looks like the 1080TIs run about $400 more than the 1080s. Is the performance in the TI really worth $400? I have no clue what to go for with the other components. I've never overclocked anything before but would maybe give it a shot on this build. I can't decide whether to go with a 500GB NVMe drive or a regular 500GB SSD for the system drive. For the data drive I would go with a 1TB hard drive. I would also like to have an optical drive that can burn blu-rays, DVDs, and CDs.

going for a aesthetically pleasing one and also splurging a bit on the storage options here.
the case is a good one. it got good space and ventilation.
added the 240ex just for its looks. it more than capable to cool ur 7700k

Better cpu cooler, much faster SSD, blackout build. Most performance will be nearly identical, more about astetics than anything else. The m2 SSD he chose is just a SATA speed drive with m2 mount

Thanks for the suggestions! I looked through both and kind of picked and chose components from both of your builds and added an optical drive. I couldn't seem to find the case in the partpicker though. I liked the case that lucky selected but I'm not a big fan of the white case. I did a little research and they actually have the same thing in black and it's $10 cheaper. Below is that I got. Looks like everything should still jive. Another question. Would 4k gaming/VR be possible with this?
