[SOLVED] First time having to do a BIOS update

My newly designed gaming rig has arrived in parts and I need to do a BIOS update on my MOBO - the MOBO is an MSI B450m gaming plus which does not support my Ryzen 3600 out of the box. I have never done this before and am wondering what the most appropriate approach is.

Is it as simple as setting everything up without the CPU (I've been told that this MOBO does not need a CPU present to flash update it) and sticking in the USB drive and hitting the flash button?

Thanks for the info - I put the drive in and the light flashed and then turned off as they told me. Just waiting on my new GPU to arrive and hopefully everything will work.
