First time mechanical keyboard user - is my one faulty?

I recently purchased a Tesoro Excalibur (Kalih Red), my first mechanical keyboard, to replace a CM Storm Devastator (Rubber dome) keyboard, but it doesn't feel quite right.

First off, the keys feel stiffer and require a bit more force than i'm used to, to press, whereas the rubber domes require slightly less force initally, and then just falls to the actuation point.

Second the spacebar and backspace keys are extremely easy to press (I thought it was supposed to be harder to press?), I often find myself jumping when I don't mean to.

The third point isn't too important, but is there supposed to an audible metallic sound (I assume from the spring) every time I press a key?

Should these things be happening and its simply a matter of me getting used to the keyboard? or is there actually something wrong and I should send it back?

Aren't mechanical keyboards supposed to be easier to press than rubber domes? to help with speed and such?

No, not necessarily easier. Some are definitely "firmer".

If you have never used a mechanical before, the feel will be almost alien. With practice and use, it will begin to feel "normal" to you.

I had a similar reaction the first time I bought a mechanical kb years ago. I had to re-train myself to ignore the differences.

Okay, I'll see how it goes, hope its worth it.
Thanks :)
