Yesterday I decided to OC my i5 4670K for the first time. Right now, it's sitting at 4.4 GHz at 1.140V. It has passed about 5 hours of Aida 64 stress test, followed by about 2 hours of Intel Burn Test at maximum stress level. I'm just wondering, is it worth going for any more speed? I'm perfectly happy with my 29% performance gain, and I'm using a cooler that is more known for allowing memory clearance and quiet running than extreme heat dissipation (Thermalright TrueSpirit 120).

Oh, and at these settings, the CPU idles in the mid to upper 20's at ~23-24 degrees ambient (C, of course) with my case fans on low (~4.5v). In Aida 64 stress test, the CPU was mostly in the high 50's with the case fans still on low, and one or two cores would occasionally hit 60-61. Intel Burn Test, however put the CPU up in the mid to upper 60's, and touched 70-71 a couple of times.

So what does everyone think? Good numbers? I'm sure I can do better, but I feel like there'll be significant diminishing returns going any further. I'm certainly open to suggestions, though.

System specs:

Fractal Design Define R4 w/3 x 14cm FD Silent Fans (Front lower and side intakes, rear exhaust)

Seasonic Platinum 1000 PSU

MSI Z87 G45 Gamer MB

Intel i5 4670K @ 4.4GHz w/ Thermalright TrueSpirit 120

GSkill Trident 16 GB (2x8GB) DDR3 2400 10-12-12-31

2 x Sapphire Tri-X Radeon R9 290 OC (at stock OC)

Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB SSD (OS)

Crucial M500 960 GB SSD (Storage)

Your numbers all look good and it appears that you have a very good chip for OC'ing. You could go higher, if you so desire, but 4.4 GHz is a pretty healthy increase.

If you should decide to go higher, just keep Vcore below 1.300 v. and Core Temps below 90*C. while stress testing. During typical usage, Core Temps should be more like 75*C. max.
