This is my first time overclocking. I am trying to figure out what the max temp I should go to. I have seen numbers from 72-98C quoted online. I started at 3.4GHz and have it stable at 5.0GHz. My initial MAX temps on my 4 cores when bench-marking were 58,59,59,57C. My temps are now at 74,78, 79, 75C @ 100%, 35,35,35,35C idle. System specs below.

i5 2500K (Sandy Bridge)
Asus p8z68-v
Corsair closed loop water cooling.....I don't remember which one
Geforce GTX 1060 6Gb
Windows 10 64bit

MAX temps using what software? Have you read and followed these?

Core Temp 1.16. It shows Min, Max, and current temp per core, plus % load of each core.

If I understand the first article correctly, hitting temps of 74-79C is running a little hot. Again if I understood the article correctly it says don't go over 85C. I was under the impression that different chips ran at different temps. So if my idle temps are 35ish, normal load temps are 65ish, and when running Cinebench R20 with all cores at 100% I reach a max temp of 74-79C, am I at the edge of safe or am I running a little hot and should dial it back a bit?

For my OC I did not manually change my voltages. I am allowing my motherboard control that. My native speed is 3.3GHz. I have changed my multiplier to 49 to run at 4.9GHz
